Here is a link that I came across that gives the true internet speed rating.

We received an email from our internet provider saying that they had bumped our bandwidth to 3MBps and I could see no increase. It seems that the transfer rate is relative to the speed of your PC! According to this test, on my new computer, I have a transfer of 2.4MBps.... and my OLD 600Mhz PC loaded up to the gills has a transfer of 300KBps... go figure!!

hmm.... they limit the number of tests per month now, but still an awesome site... 1.3MBps on my new 2.8Ghz PC Wink

Same Machine 4 years later, not much has changed even though I upgraded to a "Faster Connection ??"
